Vanilla Rose Martini

I love creating unique cocktails. Mixology has interested me for a few years now. When I thought about developing a cocktail for Mother’s Day, I automatically thought of roses and pink. Naturally, I wanted something very feminine.

However, I didn’t want a completely floral cocktail. I usually need a balance. Also, TOO much floral aroma can give me a headache. Again, I need a balance.

And…vanilla does just that. It took me a couple of tries to find the right balance. The first time, I used one ounce of rose water. Nope. Way too much. The second time, I poured a splash of rose water, it was still overpowering. So, I poured that out and was about to start my third try.

That’s when I realized (after pouring out the rose water), I still smelled it, but it wasn’t overpowering. And there were still droplets in the glass. So, I decided to try making it with the droplets rather than washing it out as I had done the first time.

After adding the vanilla vodka and other ingredients, voila. I had the perfect balance, and it turned out so pretty! The rim is just the icing on the cake (in taste and presentation). The vanilla bean elevates it, but it is totally optional.

Now, that’s the perfect way to celebrate Mom! Cheers!

Why You’ll Love This Cocktail

  • Visually stunning.
  • Aromatic.
  • Palate pleasing.
  • Unusual.

I feel like these are four powerful, valid reasons. All are perfect reasons to celebrate Mom for Mother’s Day or that significant other for Valentine’s Day. Personally, I automatically think of Mother’s Day; however, it works for both, right?

Tips & Tricks – Vanilla Rose Martini

• The rose water is potent and somewhat overpowering, so we only used a splash.

• If the fresh lemon doesn’t hold the rose petals, try rimming with simple syrup.

• Crushed ice works better than cubed.

• For a weaker cocktail, use 2 ounces vanilla vodka and 2 – 2.5 ounces club soda. Keep the Chambord the same because it isn’t as strong as the vodka. It also gives the drink its color and flavor twist.

Want to Change it Up?

If you want to change up this vanilla rose cocktail, add more rose water for a more aromatic, potent cocktail. You can also try white chocolate liqueur for a richer flair. Personally, I haven’t done either of these, but the latter sounds fantastic!
