How to Make Mardi Gras Brownie Dip

Alright, let’s do it! Remember, this is the perfect recipe to let the kids help with.

  1. Prepare the ingredients. Bring both cool whip and cream cheese to almost room temperature as this makes it easier for them to mix together well.
  2. Make the dip. Place cream cheese in a medium bowl. Add in brownie mix and cool whip. Mix well with a hand mixer.

Frequently Asked Questions – Mardi Gras Brownie Dip

Can I make the dip ahead of time?

Yes, you can. While it’s best freshly made, this dip can be made ahead of time and stored overnight in an airtight container in the refrigerator. If you do this, hold off on the decorating part until ready to serve.

Can I use a homemade brownie mix?

Sure, use your own homemade brownie mix or your favorite box mix to suit your desire.

How do I store the dip?

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Can I use low-fat or fat-free cream cheese?

Not advisable. You won’t get the same fluffy, rich consistency as the real thing!

Can I make this dip sugar-free?

It can be made mostly sugar-free. Swap out the regular brownie box mix with this sugar-free version. Substitute sugar-free Cool Whip in place of the regular Cool Whip. Cream cheese is naturally low in sugar. Try these sugar-free Mardi Gras sprinkles in place of the regular ones. Use fruit or sugar-free dippers. NOTE: Always check nutrition labels to determine what’s best for you.

Can I make it gluten-free?

Yes! Just substitute the regular brownie box mix for your favorite gluten-free version. Cool Whip and plain cream cheese are typically naturally gluten-free. Always check the nutrition labels to be sure. Substitute fruit or gluten-free dippers.

Can I make this keto-friendly?

Yes to this one too! Substitute your brownie mix for this keto version (which is gluten-free and no sugar added).

Want to Change it Up?

If you want to change this up, use your favorite brownie mix. It doesn’t have to be a fudge mix. Decorate it with different sprinkles and serve it with different dippers such as nilla wafers. You might even want to add peppermint extract for a mint chocolate dip (note: I haven’t tried this). These can also be made (mostly) sugar-free, gluten-free, and keto-friendly. See the FAQ section above on how to do this.
