If you’ve ever made a 7-layer dip, you already understand the appeal of stacking good things on top of each other. Here’s how to make easy Halloween Magic Bars, a cookie dough base loaded with Oreos, M&Ms, Reese’s Pieces, and candy corn, all in one pan. They come together easily enough that kids can help with the layering part, which honestly might be the best part.

Halloween Magic Bars

I’ve always loved a good 7-layer dip. So recently, I thought, why does the layering trick have to stop at dips? Halloween candy practically begs to be stacked (I mean in our tummies at least, right?), so that’s exactly what these bars do!

This is one of those recipes where the “hard part” is just resisting the urge to eat the M&Ms before they make it into the pan. You know the game…one for the recipe, one for me, one for the recipe, and on and on. Everything else is press, layer, bake, and wait (that four-letter wait word – the hardest step, always).

Why You’ll Love These Magic Bars

  • Easy Layering: Press, sprinkle, pour, repeat. No mixer required.
  • Kid-Friendly: The layering step is so fun for little hands to help with.
  • Loaded with Halloween Candy: Oreos, M&Ms, Reese’s Pieces, and candy corn, all in one pan.

Tips & Tricks – Halloween Magic Bars

• Line the pan with parchment paper with some overhang on the sides. It makes lifting the whole batch out for cutting much easier.

• Let the bars cool completely before slicing. Cutting them warm will make the layers slide instead of holding their shape.

• If you have little ones helping, the layering steps (Oreos, chocolate chips, M&Ms) are the easiest and safest part for them to take on.

• Store leftover bars in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Want to Change it Up?

You can play around with the candy here to match whatever’s in your Halloween bowl:

  • Swap the Halloween M&Ms, Reese’s Pieces, or candy corn for other Halloween candy you have on hand, though this may shift the sweetness and texture slightly.
  • Use white chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet for a sweeter, lighter-colored bar.
