Football Cheese Ball Tips and FAQs

What dippers do I serve with this cheese ball?

As you can see, I used nilla wafers and pretzels use whatever you’d like.

Can I make this ahead of time?

Yes! Making the cheese ball the night before is best but it can be made up to 3 days in advance. Don’t roll it in the chocolate chips or decorate it until you’re ready to serve.

Can I add decorations?

Of course! Show your team spirit. See the “Want to Change it Up” section below.

Can I freeze a cookies and cream cheese ball?

Yes, you can. To freeze, leave the cheese ball undecorated. Wrap the cheese ball in a layer of plastic wrap followed by a layer of aluminum foil. Freeze for up to 4 weeks. When ready to use, thaw in the refrigerator overnight. Decorate and serve!

Can I use low-fat or fat-free cream cheese?

You can, but I wouldn’t. The low-fat and fat-free versions make it much harder to shape and retain its shape.

Want to Change it Up?

If you want to change these up, you can swap your dippers. For an all-sweet dish, swap out the pretzels for graham crackers. You could also make the football different colors by using white chocolate chips to cover the football and milk chocolate chips for the laces. Then, use sprinkles to decorate with your favorite team colors!
