Cadbury Creme Egg Martini Process

Get those ingredients together and let’s make this cocktail happen!

  1. Make the “yolk”. Place an ounce of sweetened condensed milk in a mini bowl.
  2. Put a tiny drop of sunset yellow food coloring (or a tiny drop of yellow and a tiny drop of orange) in the condensed milk. Stir to combine. If needed, add one tiny drop at a time until you achieve the desired “yolk” color. Set aside.

  1. Rim the Glass. Place Mini Cadbury Eggs candies into a ziplock bag and crush. Pour the crushed candies onto a saucer or small plate.
  2. Put chocolate chips or broken-up pieces of a plain chocolate bar in a small bowl. Microwave in 15-second increments, stirring after each, until chocolate is melted.
  3. Dip a coupe glass into the melted chocolate making sure to coat the top, outside 1/2″-3/4” of the glass.
  4. Immediately dip the glass in the crushed candies to coat all around. Place the glass in the refrigerator to set for 10 minutes.
  5. Skewer the three little Cadbury Creme Eggs. Be gentle and hold each together with your thumb and forefinger as you push the skewer through to prevent them from breaking open.

  1. Assemble the cocktail. Take the rimmed glass out of the refrigerator. With the bar spoon (or teaspoon), drop a large spoonful of the “yolk” mixture into the bottom of the glass. Be sure you can see it from the outside of the glass.

  1. Add the white chocolate liqueur, chocolate vodka, and half-and-half to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously until well combined, about 15-20 seconds.
  2. Pour the cocktail mixture gently and slowly over the top of the yolk. It should layer and not mix with the yolk.

Tips & Tricks – Cadbury Creme Egg Martini

• Hold the spoonful of yolk up over the middle of the glass and let gravity do its job. This helps to keep the yolk in the bottom, center of the glass only.

• If there is an issue with layering the cocktail over the yolk, use the back of a bar spoon to help displace the liquid as you pour.

• Don’t put the Cadbury Creme Eggs in the refrigerator before skewering as it will make the skewering nearly impossible.

• Don’t use chocolate syrup to rim the glass. It isn’t thick or strong enough to hold the weight of the crushed candies.

• If using a plain chocolate bar (like Hershey), 1 bar will coat two larger coupe glasses or 3-4 smaller ones. If making a big batch, opt for chocolate chips.

• If you don’t have a coupe glass, other serving glasses can be used. If using a martini glass, work fast (due to its sloping nature) and get it in the fridge to harden asap.

• To make ahead of time (this one was made 10 hours before consumption), follow these tips:
1. The rims are perfect to make ahead as this gives the chocolate plenty of time to harden preventing the crushed candy from sliding/falling off.
2. Mix the main cocktail part of the drink separately and pour into a pitcher. Store in the refrigerator until ready to assemble.
3. Make the “yolk” ahead of time by pouring the desired amount of condensed milk into an airtight container and adding the food coloring to turn it yellow-orange.
4. If you have the room or are only making a few, the martini can be assembled in its entirety and stored in the refrigerator for a few hours before serving.

• To make this kid-friendly, swap out the alcohol for milk. Direct kids to mix the “yolk” with the drink to “sweeten the deal”. Chocolate milk can also be used but will change the drink’s color.

Want to Change it Up?

Normally, there are ways to change up most of our recipes but I don’t recommend doing so with this one. The balance of flavor and color is tricky. However, if you don’t mind sacrificing a little color, you can replace the white chocolate liqueur with chocolate liqueur. Of course, the exception is making it kid-friendly which is above in the Tips & Tricks section.
